Three ways to tie the Yaya sarong

Three ways to tie the Yaya sarong

The Yaya is a single piece of fabric with no fastenings, and that's exactly what makes it versatile. There's no right way to wear it, only the way that feels right that day. Here are the three we come back to most, all tied around the hips. The difference is all in the knot: where it sits, and how much fabric it uses.

1. The front knot, high on the hips

The sarong goes behind you, held at the top edge, then both ends come round to the front and cross over. The two corners are tied in a knot at the front, slightly to one side, sitting high on the hips.

The sarong wraps around you, with a soft opening at the front and a knot that draws the eye to the waist.

2. The back knot, lower on the hips

This time the sarong starts in front, and the ends go round to the back, where they're knotted. Let it sit lower on the hips.

The front stays clean and smooth, with no knot and no opening, and the sarong falls longer and more fluid.

3. The side knot, for the shortest length

No wrapping this time. The sarong goes around the hips just once, and the two corners meet at the side, where they're knotted.

Because the fabric doesn't overlap, this is the shortest of the three, with an open line along the leg on the knotted side.

Which one, when

The front knot is the most wrapped of the three, the back knot the longest and most fluid, the side knot the shortest and lightest. Same sarong, three different lengths on the leg.

The Yaya comes in Cappuccino Beige, Grape Purple, Paprika Orange and Pistachio Green, the same colours as our swimwear, so it can match your swimsuit or complete it.
